Vacation Adventures

While some of you were suffering in the sunshine of far off places, some of us were rejoicing in the April showers.

On Wednesday a few of us traveled to NYC for a day of subways, site-seeing & sushi. Departure was a painful 6:30am from CCA & we arrived in Stamford, CT at 10:50am with moments to spare in order to reach the 10:56 train to Grand Central Station. We had lunch in Grand Central and then were off on our journey into the desert of the city being led by Moses (aka Mike, aka the P.O.D.). Having no plan (just getting everyone into the spirit of Namibia) we journeyed onto Broadway to find out if all the shows were really sold out.... it was true. We then traveled to Times Square where we ventured into Toys 'R Us. Some rode the ferris wheel while others hung out with Darth Vader & Chewbacca. After a trip to Candy Land we were ready to tackle the streets again. They say that you never know what kind of people you will meet in the city and the truth in that was discovered as we passed by the Naked Cowboy... well some passed others took this as an opportunity that they could not refuse (I will not be posting those pictures). From there we decided to stick with the "Naked Theme" and venture to the Metropolitan Museum.... of course after a 20+ block detour through Central Park. When we came out of The Met the skies had cleared & we were able to meet up with our friend Debby Say who works for Student Venture in the basement of the Empire State Building. She brought us to the top of the 86 floors where the visibility was 5 miles and beautiful. From there we went to China Town for dinner (where we had no takers on the fish) and ended the day with shopping. Sticking with the earlier theme we made it with moments to spare to board the 8:10pm train to Stamford.

Saturday evening a few of us journeyed to Rochester, NH to the Shane & Shane concert. I am not sure of the words to describe what an amazing show they put on (which is probably a good thing as I note the length of this post). They are so real and speak from their hearts. What an amazing gift they have been blessed with. It would be wonderful to have them come to CCA in the future.... hummmm.....
